Feedback Sought at Meeting for Oak Street Sidewalk Project in Damascus

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a hybrid public information meeting on Thursday, Jan. 30, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will focus on Phases II and III of the Oak Drive (MD 27) sidewalk project in Damascus. Attendees can join in person or virtually via Zoom.

The in-person meeting will take place in the medium conference room of the Damascus Community Library, located at 9701 Main Street. Virtual participants must register online to receive the Zoom link and passcode.

The Oak Drive sidewalk project includes installing sidewalks on both sides of the road. Phase I, completed in 2022, installed a 4,200-foot sidewalk along the west side of Oak Drive and a 350-foot segment on Kingstead Road. Phases II and III will add sidewalks along the east side of Oak Drive.

During the meeting, MCDOT will share project details, costs, and timelines. Officials will also gather public comments and answer questions. Feedback provided at the meeting or through other channels may influence the project’s final design.

Community members can submit comments via the project website or by emailing Project Manager Kevin Minn at Kevin.Minn@montgomerycountymd.gov. Written comments will be considered equally with oral feedback.
